The book was written in a way that shows that Ribeiro has a lot of teaching experience, it is amazing how he knows the mistakes I am making without seeing me roll. I don't use it to 'learn' new things, but more to debug my game. I try something in class, fail miserably, then check the book and always can find there the mistakes I'm making. Next class i try again keeping in mind the points the author makes, and I often do slightly better, then come back to this book again. It's an awesome book with great fundamentals! Lots of great photos and simple explanations, and as someone else mentioned, he knows all of the mistakes I'm making too!
The only thing about it, jiu jitsu is constantly evolving so things are always changing, so it's easy for someone to look at this book and say it's out dated because there aren't 500 variations of whatever move, but that's not the purpose of the book. Lots of emphasis on survival and escapes. Has helped me get into more of a BJJ mindset for problem solving out of bad positions.
